Growing on the other side of the ocean

Hello from Amsterdam, dear friends!
I don’t usually know how to start these letters…
I want to tell you so much, and then I think... should I share all of this???
But I’ve been here for a little while now, and something about it feels very clear...
I first came in 2020, and I remember how immediate the crush was.
I didn’t think too much about it, I just felt it!
And now I’m back, staying for the season, and it feels less like discovering something new, and more like arriving somewhere that was already quietly familiar.
There is something about Amsterdam that feels connected to my own story
(I’m digging deeper into this!). My family comes from parts of old Europe, I was born and raised in Argentina, and I’ve spent most of my adult life in New York City...
Somehow, being here feels like all of those places are meeting at one point.
Or maybe it’s me, finally integrating all my parts...
A kind of quiet alignment I’ve been searching for, and am starting to feel come to life.
I’ve been spending a lot of time walking around Oud-Zuid and near Vondelpark. Everything is so beautiful!
I love the quiet streets, the lush plants in front of house entrances, the flowers (that suddenly appear everywhere!!), the deep green in the parks... the big windows,
the calm rhythm of it all.
I walk a lot.
I think a lot while walking.
And I think I’ve been walking toward this for a very long time.

I’m working from here now, designing, knitting, creating... slowly building lulaland on the other side of the ocean.
It’s still early days. I’m meeting new people, showing my work in a different context, and understanding how it’s being received. There’s something both unfamiliar and exciting about that. I feel like I’m starting to see lulaland through new eyes.
Right now, I’ve been making new one-of-a-kind crochet vests in 100% cotton for spring and summer, some headscarves...
And I’m also working on necklaces with vintage beads
(you know how much I love quirky accessories!!)
At the same time, I’m beginning to open a new direction, bringing in vintage dead stock pieces for little ones, and possibly returning to sewing
a few small new garments again!! (they same way it all started in NY...!)
I’m not trying to define it too much yet.
I’m just following what wants to exist.
And I hope to have it all available for you in my shop very soon... stay tuned!

At the end of May I’ll be part of a small curated
Makers Market at De Hallen here in Amsterdam!
That feels very meaningful right now, not because it’s new, but because it’s the first time I’m really starting to show lulaland here in a physical way.
What I’m most looking forward to is being part of the community again. Being out there with the work. Seeing how people respond to it. Meeting others. Chatting.
Connecting.
That’s the part that feels most alive for me in all of this! I'l keep you posted!
& if you are around PLEASE COME SAY HI!
I will share the info on INSTAGRAM soon!
I use these letters to stay connected while things are moving and changing,
and it means a lot to know you are on the other side of them.
Thanks for spending a little time in lulaland with me. Hope you enjoy the images!
I’ll write again soon, with more little wonders to share!
